It was the nicest day I have seen in months, flat and glassy and not a cloud in the sky.…

Trout fishing SW VA

As posted back in Nov. anytime I visit family in SW VA I try to hit the streams for a little trout fishing. The boys are getting familiar with one stretch that had been stocked on the 17th. Flow was up and the fish were hungry smacking the baits and fighting hard in the upper 30 degree waters. Wyatt was struggling to land his first fish when he and Nolan…

My Best Catch Yet!

Today was my 10th wedding anniversary and I was happy that my wife Cynthia joined me today. We left our house in Poquoson Virginia about 0930hrs and went drifting eels on the Eastern Shore from Plantation Light to the Concrete Ships. My wife is also my best friend and I am fortunate that she tolerates and encourages me fishing from my jet ski and the Grady about a 100 times…

Cheap Lures 1: Stretch 25' and eels 0

After spending about $60 buying chartreuse stretch 25' lures and live eels to catch VA stripers, I found that cheap jig heads attached to a .50 rubber shad body was the only thing that worked. I caught 2 stripers over 20" under the bridge at the 2nd island.

A Quick Dinner Run

I got home at 1500hrs yesterday and it was flat and glassy so I dropped the Grady White in and headed for the mouth of the York River. Thirty minutes later I picked one more up on a red…
